About me
Here’s my bio, written in third-person for ease with the cutting and the pasting
Viveka Weiley is an interaction designer with a background in virtual worlds. He joined the Creativity and Cognition Studios at UTS in September 2006 to begin research into tools for distributed collaborative creativity in mixed real/virtual environments.
Viveka sports a Bachelor of Design from UNSW’s College of Fine Arts, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information Technology with First Class Honours and the University Medal from UTS. Viveka is inspired by the work of Peter Morville on findability, Don Norman on user experience design and Edward Tufte on readability. More recently he has been stealing ideas from Mihaly Czikszentmihalyi, Paul Dourish and Bill Buxton.
Viveka has spent over ten years in the interactive media industry, working primarily in telepresence and online communities. In 2002 he co-founded Ping, a geospatial virtual reality and visual search company. He is past chair of Sydney ACM SIGGRAPH, current chair of ANZGRAPH, and was a member of the formation committee for the SIGGRAPH in ASIA conference series.
You can read what he’s been up to lately on Viveka’s blog.
I also have a university staff page with more official academic-type stuff.
